What Is a Shoulder Sink? Benefits, Uses, and Applications

Chances are you might have seen and heard of a sink. Of course you have one at your home. So, then what’s a shoulder sink? It's not a term that’s heard every day. And a head start—the actual thing has nothing to do with the literal meaning!

Field staff and mobile working professionals often travel with their fully racked van, which is a mobile workplace unto itself. Imagine a plumber repairing a system or a technician servicing an air conditioning unit. Obviously the hands get dirty, which is a part of their job. This is where a shoulder sink becomes advantageous.

You can ask, "Define 'advantageous'?" So, let’s delve in.

What is a Shoulder Sink?

Shoulder sinks are compact sinks that are designed to fit inside a work van. Built specially for mobile workspaces, they include all the essentials needed for proper handwashing, such as a freshwater tank, a wastewater tank, a tap, and a strong basin.

They fit easily inside the van without taking up much space. This dedicated washing station helps staff to stay hygienic and available whenever needed.

Benefits of Having a Shoulder Sink

Wash Your Hands Anywhere

The biggest advantage is having access to clean running water and soap wherever you go. No matter if it’s a residential area or a rural site, you needn’t depend on external facilities.

Maintain Professional Image

Small things aren’t that small. What’s downplayed as normal might be what customers notice. The sight of a sink within the van and operators coming with clean hands and equipment will be much appreciated, leaving a better impression.

Hygiene Throughout the Day

Regular handwashing protects both the operators and customers. Shoulder sinks make it easier to maintain hygiene between the job hours.

Smart and Useful Addition

Shoulder sinks are a smart and useful addition for mobile operators, helping them upgrade their van setup as well as maintain cleanliness.
